Message from the President
We have recently concluded the 46th Annual General Meeting and Council Election using virtual platform for the very first time and recorded the highest participation. I am proud to say it was successful conducted and I am grateful to the organizing committee members for their hardship.
I am also honored and privileged to resume the role of President for year 2020-2022 and I shall continue to grow MIFT. 2020 is a challenging year for everyone globally in the continuous fight against COVID-19 pandemic. All organizations including MIFT are significantly impacted in one way or another. The most significant impact to MIFT is most traditionally organized events and activities have to be cancelled or postponed. It is an uphill task for the new Council line-up to mitigate the impact and practice the new “normal” in many of the practices, not limiting to event organization in the next two years.
With the successful virtual AGM recently, I strongly believe MIFT now will be able to reach out to the members outside of Klang Valley, even as far as Sabah and Sarawak. Therefore, it is the right time to grow MIFT geographically!!
The collaboration with MOH Malaysian Food Analysts Council will continue especially on the development of examinations and professional training programmes for registered food analysts in Malaysia to ensure their competency meet the highest standards.
To all our valued members and perspective members, I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that my intention, and that of the new members of Council, is to continuously grow MIFT without limits. We will stay focused on bringing more benefits to our members while meeting the current with Industry standards and requirements. I look forward to a productive successful presidency and invite each of you to participate in our upcoming activities, and most importantly grow together with MIFT.
Lastly, remember your loved ones, wear mask, use hand sanitizer and practice social distancing. Stay safe and well.
Regards, Koh Yew Ming, PhD
